The heat in far north Queensland makes water retention in plants very difficult, so adding a layer of mulch around the base of the plants helps keep the water from evaporating.

Having several thousand trees to mulch is a huge job so a Roto Grind, supplied by Oz Turners & Mulchers, is being used here for grinding straw. It is then directed to the trees base or garden beds and used as mulch. The fully adjustable exit spout allows complete control of distance and direction of the ground material.
